Hollywood star Russell Crowe wants to potentially sell his share of South Sydney.

South Sydney officials are aware that Crowe has been exploring options to offload his 25 per cent stake in the Rabbitohs.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking under the condition of anonymity due to confidentiality told this masthead that Crowe has been seeking interest from potential buyers in the United States and Australia.

South Sydney, who are also part-owned by billionaires Mike Cannon-Brookes and James Packer, has been aware of the situation for at least two months.

Crowe bought the club alongside Peter Holmes a Court almost two decades ago for $3 million and could sell his share for between five and seven times that amount. South Sydney declined to comment.
