Himorher ready to impress on debut at Muswellbrook

Bigger things could be in store for unraced filly Himorher who will step out for the first time at Muswellbrook on Monday afternoon.

Himorher is prepared at Scone by the astute Rodney Northam and treated her rivals to a galloping lesson in a Scone barrier trial (900m) on January 27.

The filly raced wide most of the way yet put her opponents to the sword soon after straightening for an impressive win.

Franking the strength of the trial was the runner-up Shine Your Light – that filly had finished third to unbeaten Godolphin galloper Barber when she made her debut at Royal Randwick last October.

Reece Jones will partner the filly who is one of four rides on the seven-race card for the apprentice.

Among the 26-year-old’s other mounts is roughie Elegant Poetress who has bright claims despite having been unplaced in her past five starts.

The Jeremy Gask-trained mare is having her second run from a spell and can fly under the radar in the fifth event.

Interference cost her a placing at Taree before spelling, then on resumption she was jammed up along the fence when making her run and should have finished closer at this course.

Elegant Poetress will strip fitter for the run and is one of two runners on the day for Gask, the other being Croatian Madame in the fourth race.

The five-year-old finished stoutly when third behind the speedy De Forerunner at Bathurst and will also be ridden by Jones.

An interesting runner is debutant Hellbetta who will step out in the final race to be ridden by Victorian jockey Lewis German.

Hellbetta has had three barrier trials and a key one was at Gosford when narrowly beaten by one of today’s rivals in Oakfield Eagle.

The big lad ran up to win the trial but was restrained near the line, and his next trial at Rosehill was also strong, and he simply needs luck from his terrible draw.

Lewis German has been riding in Victoria and NSW since late last year before making the switch to NSW for good early this month in search of better opportunities.
