Philadelphia sports fans are known for making their thoughts known – whether it’s involving a great rival, Santa Claus (who they famously booed at a 1968 NFL game) or Ben Simmons.
It was the former who caught their ire before Super Bowl 57 as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was relentlessly booed as he received the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
The honour, which the NFL calls its highest, is presented to a player for their commitment to charity and community work.

In Prescott’s case, he was honoured for the creation of his Faith Fight Finish Foundation, which focuses on colon cancer research (his mother Peggy died of the disease in 2013), mental health and suicide prevention and other worthy causes.
But that didn’t stop him copping a ruthless reception, with Prescott seen mouthing “Eagles fans…” as the boos rained down.
“Come on man. Dak Prescott introduced as Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner and booed heavily,” NBC’s Matthew Berry tweeted.
“You don’t have to be a fan of his playing but give it up for his community service. He’s a good dude. Come on.”
But most NFL fans were understanding of the act given the Philadelphia-Dallas rivalry, and Prescott appeared to take it in jest.
