‘He grabbed my b***s’: Irish star fumes over alleged low blow in spiteful World Cup clash

Ireland second rower James Bentley accused a Lebanon rival of a low blow in a spiteful Group C pool match on Monday morning AEST.

Bently took a hit up in the ninth minute and then stopped the game to make an accusation of foul play.

“He grabbed my balls,” an exasperated Bentley clearly yells.

Bentley came reeling out of a tackle from Cedars duo Kayne Kalache and Andrew Kazzi and he immediately complained to referee Adam Gee.

It’s unclear which tackler Bently was accusing but he repeated the claim four times while pointing at one of the Lebanon players.

“He gets tackled and he doesn’t look too happy either, James Bentley,” a female commentator said on Fox League.

Kalache tackled low while Kazzi went high and Gee stopped the game to assess the situation but didn’t blow a penalty or put anyone on report.

“He’s not too pleased is he, he’s been in a couple of collisions hasn’t he. He got Mitchell Moses with a great shot, didn’t he, defensively,” a male commentator said.

“He’s complaining of something to the referee, maybe the referee is going to put this on report and have a little look at it or maybe Ashley Klein the video referee can help out.”

“He took a little contact in an uncomfortable place, shall we put it that way,” the female commentator responded.

“He’s certainly not happy about it and understandably not happy about it.”

Ireland enforcer Jaimin Jolliffe was placed on report in the 27th minute but escaped the bin for an ugly high tackle on Kalache.

Jolliffe’s shoulder made contact with the prop’s head and a dazed Kalache was taken for an HIA.

Gee blew a penalty for the high contract and Lebanon halfback Moses was shocked Jolliffe remained on the field.

“He has made contact with the head with his shoulder, I think (Bunker referee) Ashley Klein could well have an input into the game again,” the male commentator said.

“I think he has got him square hasn’t he… for me he should leave the field as well shouldn’t he.”

Kalache didn’t return and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Michael Cheika was left frustrated after the match as the Lebanon coach didn’t have Adam Doueihi for the clash after the playmaker was suspended for dissent in their tournament opener.

“Kayne wasn’t flash if I’m honest,” Cheika said.

“I wasn’t happy with the whole thing. We had a player sent-off for supposedly saying something to the referee.

“(But a) bloke takes a shoulder fair and square to the head and nothing happens. Our player goes to hospital. Go figure.”

Lebanon won the match 32-14 and are now hot favourites to face Australia in the quarterfinals on Saturday week.
