Warriors forward Jazz Tevaga has declared he will donate money in honour of former teammate Roman Tuhimata for every mistake he makes in the 2023 season in a bid to help his friend through cancer treatment.
Tevaga will chip in $100 to a donation fund for “every missed tackle, error and penalty”, claiming the upcoming campaign is likely to become an “expensive season”.

“Roman endured months of pain and discomfort while working, eventually forcing him to wear his tool belt around his neck,” Tevaga wrote.
“Multiple trips to A & E and to the hospital resulted in being discharged prematurely, after conducting many different tests.
“Once the seriousness of the situation was realised, a PET scan showed the tumour that began in his abdomen, had now spread to his liver and spleen resulting in a stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
“With his typical calm and humble nature, he [Tuhimata] maintains a strong positive attitude, that is inspiring,” Tevaga wrote.
“He is a genuine kind loving man – all the qualities that make for an amazing partner, son, brother and friend.”
Tevaga and Tuhimata previously lined up alongside each other in the Warriors’ National Youth Competition team.
