Snooker star Mark Williams pulled off some remarkable moves to evade a wasp during his match up against David Gilbert, revealing he thought the insect “was going to sting my nuts at one stage.”
Williams and Gilbert duked it out for a spot in the quarter finals of The Masters at the Alexandra Palace, affectionately known as the ‘Ally Pally’, before a brief moment of chaos erupted.

With Williams out front 5-2 and needing just one more frame for victory, a wasp decided to throw a spanner in the works.
As the three-time world champion prepared to take a shot, the wasp began to hover around him before eventually settling on a rather uncomfortable place on his pants.
Williams managed to briefly get the insect away from his nether regions before he bizarrely attempted to kick it out of the air.
The 47-year-old continued his attempts to evade the wasp with some unique moves reminiscent of Midnight Oil’s Peter Garrett as he retreated back to his chair to grab a towel and twirl it around.
Eurosport commentator Philip Studd poked fun at Williams, claiming he’s “rather less adept at dealing with wasps than he is at potting balls.”

“He’s doing his best John Travolta impression out there at the moment,” Studd said.
“Just when you think you’ve seen everything in this game.”
However, the wasp wasn’t done causing havoc in the Ally Pally as it found its way onto the neck of a cameraman.
Referee Marcel Eckardt told the cameraman not to move as he did his part to help out by flicking at the wasp with a small towel.
The cameraman had a wry smile on his face as the audience laughed at the comedy unfolding in front of them, while Eckardt struggled to shoo the wasp away.
“I thought pantomime season was over,” Studd said.
Eurosport commentator Dominic Dale added: “Where’s David Attenborough when you need him?”
Eventually the wasp retreated to another spot in the Ally Pally while Williams held on to secure a 6-2 victory to move into the quarter-finals where a match against snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan.
