Grand Final

All 207 home and away games for the year are below – and they’ll all be live on Fox Footy and Kayo.

After confirming Opening Round times and dates on Wednesday, the AFL on Thursday released full match details for the next 15 rounds. Times and dates for games from Round 16 onwards will be confirmed midway through the 2024 season.

The addition of Opening Round, as well as an increase in Thursday night matches — there’ll be games on a Thursday night across the first 13 rounds — has led to a 64 per cent reduction in overlapping games compared to the first 15 rounds in 2023.

Most notably, Sundays are largely overlap free across the first 15 rounds, with many Sundays featuring two matches starting at 1pm and 4pm (AEDT/AEST) respectively.

Fox Footy is also the only broadcaster on Sundays for 11 of the first 15 rounds. The channel will also host Sunday Night Footy in Rounds 1 and 2, plus a Sunday night Q-Clash in Round 8.

There have also been changes to the start times for Thursday night and Friday night games. Most Thursday night matches will now commence at 7.30pm — 10 minutes later than previous seasons — while Friday night games will begin at 7.40pm — 10 minutes earlier than previous seasons.

“Since its inception over three decades ago Friday night footy has been the cornerstone of the growth of our national competition,” AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon said.

“Matches under the Friday night lights have consistently delivered our biggest crowds and our biggest national TV audiences.

“Fans are at the core of our game; the feedback has been strong and clear about starting Friday night matches earlier and I am pleased that in partnership with Channel 7 we have been able to deliver for them.

“Friday night footy is a major national event every week, whether that be in Victoria or interstate and bringing the start time forward by ten minutes will only amplify the prominence of the timeslot and footy across the country.

One of those Thursday night clashes will be a stand-alone Showdown clash between Adelaide and Port Adelaide in Round 8.

North Melbourne and Carlton will again meet on Good Friday after attracting a big crowd to Marvel Stadium in 2023. But there’ll be a second match later that night, Fremantle to host Adelaide at Optus Stadium.

There’ll also be two matches on Anzac Day. After traditional rivals Essendon and Collingwood clash at the MCG earlier in the day, the Giants will host the Brisbane Lions at Manuka Oval, with the first bounce at 7.30pm.
