The almost unstoppable sire line of an ultra-popular former Golden Slipper winner is set for another payday at Tuesday’s feature Wyong meeting.
In a season where the progeny of 2016 Slipper winner Capitalist continues to make early career statements, a four-year-old metro gelding is the latest to eye off a debut win.
Free Enterprise, a four-year-old gelded son of Capitalist from the Team Snowden stable at Randwick, looks ready to rip when first time out in a Maiden Hcp over 1100m.
Behind three trials in the space of four weeks, Free Enterprise gapped a handy field at home over 1050m by nearly four lengths in the last of those runs, with still something in hand.
He has since been gelded and looms as one of the better bets on the eight-race provincial card.
Later in the meeting, stablemate three-year-old and fellow son of Capitalist, Capital Asset rates a leading chance in a wide open Benchmark 68 Hcp over 1350m.
Standing at Newgate Farm, Capitalist was Australia’s leading second-season sire in 2021-22 and is well on track to repeat the feat in the current season.
He was the first colt ever to win the Breeders Plate, Magic Millions and Golden Slipper two-year-old treble, and currently boasts a staggering 27 individual stakes winners.
Incredibly, Capitalist amassed more than $3.5 million in prize money despite only racing seven times for four wins and two further placings.
Wyong’s last meeting for summer has again attracted a strong band of city-based gallopers all slipping up the freeway to lay down a marker or two ahead of bigger targets in autumn.
