Former NRL enforcer Josh McGuire has been shown a red card during his debut for the Warrington Wolves in a 22-10 win over the Leigh Leopards.
The pre-season trial served as his teammate Ben Currie’s testimonial game — but now the Wolves’ key recruit could sit out the first game of the Super League season.
The 32-year-old was sent off for dissent and it remains unclear exactly what the former Cowboys, Broncos and Dragons forward said to receive the straight red card.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Warrington coach Daryl Power was confused as to why his star recruit was given his marching orders.
“He said something but I’m still not entirely sure what it was. I need to find out more about that one because to be honest, I’ve no idea at the minute,” Powell said.
“We’ll get to the bottom of that one. We don’t really have any evidence of what’s been said at the moment. We’ll find out during the week.”
