Bevan French has been named the 2023 Man of Steel, awarded to the Super League’s most outstanding player each season.
The 27-year-old shifted from the outside backs to five-eighth this season and has been a pivotal figure in the Wigan Warriors’ charge to the grand final.
French is the first Wigan player to win the award since Sam Tomkins was crowned in 2012.

The playmaker beat out St Helens fullback Jack Welsby and Catalans winger Tom Johnstone to the award.
The Warriors will face the Catalans Dragons in the 2023 Super League grand final, with Mitchell Pearce pulling the strings for the team from France.
French played for the Eels from 2016 to 2018 before making the move abroad to England, plying his trade for Wigan since 2019.

Across his 47 games in the NRL, the gun winger scored 35 tries and also represented the Indigenous All Stars on two occasions.
