‘For f***’s sake’: Aussie star’s heated moment with umpire caught on stump mic

Ashton Agar was involved in a tense moment with umpire Paul Reiffel during the first ODI between Australia and England with stump mic picking up the exchange.

Agar was bowling at the Adelaide Oval when he accidentally clattered into Sam Billings at the nonstriker’s end while trying to anticipate the ball off Dawid Malan’s bat.

Umpire Reiffel was less than impressed with Agar’s movement across the wicket given the ball was nowhere near him.

Reiffel was heard saying to Agar: “Mate, you can’t just keep running across the wicket.”

Agar was immediately on the defensive.

“What do you mean? I’m trying to anticipate the ball,” Agar replied.

Reiffel wasn’t having it, however, saying: “He sent that to mid-wicket, mate. You can’t — you’re getting in the way.”

Agar might land himself in hot water for his following reply, which was “for f***’s sake”.

The pair continued to exchange some words although they could not be heard on the broadcast.
