Dean Young will reportedly return to St George Illawarra from 2024 to take up a role as assistant coach to incoming head coach Shane Flanagan.
Young is currently in his third season in North Queensland as Todd Payten’s assistant with the Cowboys, after departing the Dragons when he was overlooked for the head coaching role after a stint as interim coach in 2020.

But the Sydney Morning Herald reports the former 200-game Red V player and premiership winner will return to the club from next season, with a deal set to be announced as soon as this weekend.
The pair previously worked together as assistant coaches to Paul McGregor in 2020, before Young became the interim coach later that season when McGregor was axed.
Like 2021, Young was again in the running for the Dragons’ head coaching role this time around.
