‘F***ing legend’: F1 world loses it over Ricciardo’s all-time ‘finger gun’ pass

Daniel Ricciardo has got his swagger back.

After overtaking Alpine’s Esteban Ocon at the Mexico Grand Prix, Ricciardo showed a finger gun move on the way through that epitomised his improved performance on the track.

Ricciardo had one of his best drives of the 2022 season – voted driver of the day – starting the race from 11th and finishing in seventh despite a 10-second time penalty while beating teammate Lando Norris.

The McLaren driver showed off some of his best form including several dramatic overtakes and late braking as well as a bold tyre strategy to secure his best result since Singapore earlier this month and his third-best finish of the season.

It wasn’t without adversity too as Ricciardo slammed into AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda on the 51st lap – forcing the latter to retire and resulting in a 10-second penalty to Ricciardo.

It however only fired the Aussie up as he didn’t accept the penalty and ignited a brilliant charge of overtakes.

But it was the finger gun that really caught the eye of the F1 world on social media as fans lit up for the 33-year old’s unexpected move as well as his performance at large.

F1 content head at EssentiallySports Shreya Sanjeev tweeted: “Daniel Ricciardo you f***ing legend. Saw the honey badger on track today.”
