Rugby league legend Scott Sattler has thrown his support behind ARLC chairman Peter V’landys potential ‘Respect Round’.
V’landys said NRL bosses were exploring the possibility of introducing a Pride Round in the wake of Manly’s pride jersey saga last season.
Now reportedly have changed their tune and V’landys said if any themed round was to be introduced, it wouldn’t be a Pride Round.

“We were always going to look at a Respect Round,” V’landys told The Daily Telegraph.
“What a Respect Round is, is that it respects everyone’s views. We might not agree with them, but we respect them.
“So if we were going to do anything we were going to do a Respect Round. It wasn’t going to be a Pride Round because then you alienate other people.
“We pride ourselves on being an inclusive game. To be an inclusive game you have to respect everyone’s view.”
Sattler, who played 203 games and 118 for the Panthers, believes introducing more themed rounds to go with the indigenous and Women in League Round could reduce their impact.
“I agree (with V’landys) because I think it does dilute (the causes) a little bit,” Sattler said on SEN 1170.
“We do try and find, on some occasions … we seem to just be finding a reason to get supporters to buy another jersey.

“We definitely need some of our celebrated rounds.
“I can see where the NRL are trying to go with that as well because a ‘Respect Round’ encompasses everything.
“(But) does it create further debate and further discussion? I’m not quite sure.”
NRL legend Laurie Daley also weighed in on the debate, claiming the topic is “divisive”.
“It’s divisive. It’s divisive because people have got different opinions and people have got different religions,” Daley said on Sky Sports Radio.
“If you’re going to bring something in that’s divisive then you’re going to cause a lot of trouble as well. I think we all should be respectful of everyone’s opinions.
“I don’t think they’re ready for it at the moment because it is — it’s something that’s going to be divisive.”
