AFL Finals have officially arrived on Foxtel and Kayo Sports and to celebrate, Fox Footy has teamed up with award-winning cartoonist Mark Knight to encapsulate the excitement as part of a bespoke piece of art.
The cartoon, titled ‘For The Love Of Finals Footy’, features seven past legends of the game and a current day superstar all vying for the sacred Premiership Cup.
Featured in the cartoon is Jack Riewoldt (Richmond), Jonathan Brown (Brisbane), Nathan Buckley (Collingwood), Garry Lyon (Melbourne), Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle), Cameron Mooney (Geelong), Brad Johnson (Western Bulldogs) and Gerard Healy (Sydney).
The piece was revealed live by Mark Knight on AFL 360 earlier this week.
“There are some great faces there,” he said.
“I love drawing Jack Riewoldt and of course the big ‘Browny’ in the middle – he’s got a head like a brick. ‘Bucks’ has been one of my favourites (to draw) for years.”
It was also announced this week that a live studio audience is invited to attend AFL 360 on Thursday 22nd September for the first time since the fan-favourite show began 12 years ago. The biggest names in the game will visit the special edition with a chance for fans to meet their heroes.
On the same blockbuster night of footy entertainment, host of Bounce Jason Dunstall will wrangle the often-unpredictable troupe of Andrew Gaze, Cameron Mooney, Bernie Vince and Ben Dixon in front of a live-studio audience.
Then, on grand final-eve, Fox Footy’s newest entertainment show Best On Ground will ring in the biggest day on the footy calendar – bringing fans the biggest stories of the day ahead in a light-hearted way.
Come grand final day it all kicks-off early with the Grand Final Breakfast then the much-loved Fox Footy’s Longest Kick returning to the banks of the Yarra River to see superstars of the game boot the Sherrin further than their rivals.
Fox Footy has something for every footy lover during a monster finals series, including On The Couch, AFL 360, Face-To-Face, First Crack, Best On Ground and Bounce.
The first final gets underway on Thursday evening when Brisbane takes on Richmond in a nail-biter elimination at the Gabba from 6.30pm AEST on Fox Footy, available on Foxtel and Kayo Sports.
