Supercars driver Brodie Kostecki has blown up in an expletive-laden tirade after he was blocked as he attempted to rejoin the Bathurst 1000 in second place – ahead of reigning champion Chaz Mostert.
The moment of controversy came after Will Davison parked himself in the tyre wall at turn two, bringing the safety car out with less than 200km of the race to go.
Kostecki dived into the pits as the yellow flagged waved, while Mostert opted to stay out.

As Kostecki attempted to rejoin the field, Mostert drew alongside but a recovery vehicle seemed to impeded Kostecki’s run to get up to pace.
The 24-year-old lashed out on the radio, telling his team the “f*****g vehicle blocked me” as Mostert snuck through when Kostecki had to yield.
Under safety car rules, the car in front by the second white line on the track is deemed ahead and the car behind has to redress and slot in.
“Brodie is the one who actually got blocked by the ute,” commentator Mark Skaife said.
“And he was blowing up on the radio,” Neil Crompton added.

“You shouldn’t have to back off for a recovery vehicle.
“I’m sure if any of the three of us (Crompton, Skaife and pit lane reporter Mark Larkham) were in car 99, you would have melted the radio.”
Skaife still believed Kostecki wouldn’t have dropped a spot regardless of the recovery vehicle interference.
“Is Mostert already by him?” Skaife questioned.
“Is he clear of him? Oh (Kostecki) had to baulk it up! He absolutely had to come out of it. He has been impeded by that recovery car.

“The issue really is that (recovery) car shouldn’t have been there and impacted any way.”
The moment of controversy came after Mostert had trailed Kostecki for much of the Bathurst 1000 event, having earlier been left frustrated by his rival’s blocking.
Larkham explained Mostert was well within his rights to force Kostecki to yield.
“The line is the safety car line, to be deemed in front you’ve got to be in front by the time you get to that line, otherwise you’ve got to redress,” he explained.
“You can see the momentum Mostert has got.
“I don’t think there’s any question that Mostert had the momentum to blaze on
“I think Mostert was 100 per cent gone.”

Speaking of the moment after finishing the race in fourth, Kostecki played down the controversy.
“I saw (the recovery vehicle) coming – I didn’t even see Chaz because I just saw the flashing lights,” he explained.
“I lifted quite early, but it was a bit strange racing a safety truck exiting pit lane.
“But it wasn’t meant to be.
“We weren’t fast enough anyways.”
