LAP 19: McLaren’s undercut drops Piastri behind Norris
McLaren opted to bring Lando Norris into the pits on Lap 18 and it worked as the Brit emerged just ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Piastri was then brought in on the following lap and had a quicker pit stop than Norris, yet it was the latter who got the undercut and is now the leading McLaren thanks to his tyres being up to temperature.
LAP 14: Piastri told to push the pace
Oscar Piastri has been given a key instruction from McLaren over the radio: “Maximum pace.”
Although the gap between he and the race-leading Verstappen continues to widen, Piastri is still over two seconds clear of teammate Lando Norris who is in third.
LAP EIGHT: Zhou learns fate over first-lap collision
Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu has been handed a five-second penalty as a result of his collision on the first lap.
Zhou, who started the race P5, quickly fell behind after a horror start before he bumped into the back of Daniel Ricciardo which had a domino effect and resulted in both Alpine cars being retired from the race.

LAP TWO: Alpine’s double disaster
Disaster has struck Alpine yet again for the second-consecutive week.
After both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasley earned DNF status at the British GP, the duo have already been forced out of the Hungarian GP just a handful of laps into the race.
LAP ONE: Hamilton’s lead gone in a flash as Aussie flies into second
Lewis Hamilton worked extremely hard to earn pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
But the Mercedes superstar’s time at the front was over almost as soon as it began once the lights went out as Max Verstappen nipped in front of him.
Yet it was a sneaky move from Australian star Oscar Piastri that caught the eye as he shot up from fourth straight into second on the first turn.
Unfortunately for Daniel Ricciardo, he dropped from P13 all the way to 18th on the first lap after he was hit from behind by Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu.
