Everest circus reveals perfect gate for Everest favourite I Wish I Win

From the time a human cannonball shot from the stage to reveal I Wish I Win had gate nine, this Everest barrier reveal was going to be spectacular as the $20 million race will be at Randwick on Saturday.

For the next 30 minutes on Tuesday night, the circus came to the centre of Randwick with some Everest hopes enhanced and others left in ruin by acts culminating with motorbikes launched across the Big Top who gave Lady Of Camelot gate 11.

It didn’t change the market with I Wish I Win, last year’s runner-up, staying as the $5 favourite. His gate will allow Luke Nolen to find the back in running before launching late.

The ever-consistent Bella Nipotina came up with the outside barrier of 12, and her owner Michael Christian could only say “things were a lot better a few minutes ago.”

There were cheers when I Am Me, the winner of the Concorde Stakes and The Shorts, drew the rails alley of one. She will get the perfect run following the speed. It continued a remarkable run of drawing gate one or two at her past six starts.

“That’s perfect, it will be the same as the last two for her,” Dynamic Syndications Dean Watt said.

Chris Waller-trained Joliestar and Yulong’s Growing Empire were the two big winners, drawing four and seven respectively, and share the second line of betting at $6.

Giga Kick’s trainer Clayton Douglas was delighted with barrier three for the 2022 Everest winner, which has had two runs back from a 12-month injury lay-off. He has been unplaced in the Concorde Stakes and Premiere Stakes.
