English batter Zak Crawley wants to bringing his all-out assault batting style to the Big Bash after joining fellow Ashes villain Harry Brook in nominating for the international player draft.
The pair headline a list of 50 names already having put their hand up to join the BBL, with countrymen and long-time visitors James Vince and Dawid Malan also looking for a team.
The full list of draft nominations will be confirmed next Monday.
Crawley, who has played in the BBL with the Hobart Hurricanes, was England’s leading run-scorer in the Ashes, plundering 480 runs, second only to Australia’s Usman Khawaja, and at a strike rate of 88.72, indicative of his attacking style.
Brook, who belted 383 runs and four 50s, recently set the record for the fastest century in The Hundred in the UK, scoring 105 runs off 42 balls.
He was controversially overlooked for England’s ODI World Cup squad but has put his name forward for a BBL return.
Joe Clarke (Stars), Will Jacks, Dan Lawrence, James Vince (Sixers), Tom Curran (Sixers), Ollie Pope, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton (Heat) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are also among the English talent hoping to be selected in the second BBL Overseas Player Draft.
New Zealanders Martin Guptill and Jimmy Neesham are also on the list of hopefuls.
“We have no doubt clubs will be faced with tough decisions given the abundance of top talent from across the globe to choose from,” Big Bash boss Alistair Dobson said.
“We are excited to see such an impressive line-up of players expressing their interest in being part of the upcoming Big Bash seasons.”
The BBL Overseas Player Drafts will be broadcast on Fox Cricket on September 3.
The full list of players to nominate for this year’s Drafts will be announced next Monday August 28. The players selected for the Platinum category of each Draft will be announced Wednesday August 30.
