Eels star Shaun Lane was taken straight to hospital following a brutal head clash with Knights enforcer Daniel Saifiti on Friday night.
Saifiti came charging off the back fence and Lane was first to make contact in the three-man tackle, but he came reeling out of the first-half incident.
The second-rower looked in immediate pain and was clutching his face, in what appears to be a jaw injury.
Lane was taken straight off and Parramatta officials took no chances, sending him straight for scans.

“The Eels just getting ahead of the game here, they’re taking Shaun Lane straight to Gosford Hospital for scans immediately for that facial injury,” Fox League sideline reporter Lara Pitt said.
“That is a real shame for Shaun Lane, a real star for the Eels in their grand final charge in 2022,” commentator Warren Smith responded.
“It’s a suspected fracture of the cheek or jaw,” Yvonne Sampson added at halftime.
The Eels lost their second backrower in the 44th minute when Matt Doorey went off with an ankle injury.
“An ankle problem here for Matt Doorey, we mentioned he had the ACL at the end of 2021,” Smith said.
“The leg of Jones collided with his own right ankle and they both got up very proppy. That may very well be night over for Doorey.”
“With (Isaiah) Papali’i heading to the Tigers he’s got a real chance to nail down that right edge this season,” Gorden Tallis responded.
Later in the second half Pitt said: “The club and doctor are saying he (Doorey) did jam up that ankle but they’re not expecting it to impact his start to the season.”
Meanwhile, in Saturday night’s second game young gun Joseph Suaalii failed a head injury assessment.
The gun centre copped an ugly blow attempting to tackle backrower Haumole Olakau’atu and was instantly taken from the field.
