Eagles forward charged with assault — but allowed back at training after ‘regaining trust’

West Coast Eagles forward Isiah Winder has been charged with assault following an off-season incident in Geelong but the club has allowed him to resume training with the AFL squad.

The club confirmed Winder was charged and will face court later this year following an incident at a party while attending the AFL/AFLPA’s Indigenous and Multicultural Players’ Summit.

It was reported Winder was allegedly involved in a physical altercation while under the influence of alcohol.

FULL WEST COAST STATEMENT

Young West Coast Eagles forward Isiah Winder today resumed training with the AFL squad at Mineral Resources Park as the players returned from their Christmas break.

The Club continued to support Isiah while he was directed to train with the WAFL squad after an incident in Geelong at the end of a camp in December for the AFL’s Indigenous and multicultural players.

He has worked hard to regain the trust and confidence of players and staff before returning to train with the AFL squad.

The Club has also been informed that Winder has been charged with assault as a result of the incident in Geelong. As this matter is scheduled to go before the courts later this year the Club can make no further comment at this time.
