Eels star Dylan Brown has knocked back rival interest to sign an eight-year extension with Parramatta.
Brown was one of the most sought-after players on the open market with Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins leading the pursuit, with his retention critical for a Parramatta roster in transition.
The Kiwi international’s new contract commits Brown to the Eels until at least the end of 2025, with further options in the eight-year contract through until the end of 2031.
Brown’s retention comes as halves partner Mitchell Moses continues to weigh up his future beyond 2023 as the Bulldogs and Wests Tigers circle. The Eels have tabled a four-year deal to the Lebanon skipper.
Brown, 22, enjoyed a breakout year as the Eels surged to their first grand final in more than a decade and starred at the World Cup for New Zealand.
Should he see out the full terms of his contract, Brown would go a long way toward being in blue and gold for his entire career.
“I left New Zealand to pursue an NRL career when I was 15, and the Eels have been home for me ever since,” Brown said.
“It’s been an amazing journey so far, and the club has an exciting future that I want to be part of for a long time.
“I’m grateful to be a part of this club, from Brad and the coaches to my teammates, all the staff, our members and fans, I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else.”
As well as Moses, the Eels are in the midst of contract talks with rising outside back Will Penisini.
