ST GEORGE Illawarra have ramped up the search for a new head coach with premiership-winning Cronulla Sharks coach Shane Flanagan meeting key Red V figures on Wednesday.
After the surprise last-minute backflip from Jason Ryles, the Dragons have finally fast-tracked negotiations with a view to trying to have a new head coach sorted by the end of this week.
Red V favourite son and 2010 premiership-winner Dean Young is also in the mix and is believed to have spoken with key decision-makers at St George Illawarra earlier this week.

The Dragons management has been lambasted for being too slow out of the blocks in the aftermath of sacking Anthony Griffin and then failing to land the signature of priority candidate Ryles.
After an initial reluctance to put Flanagan’s name on the short-list due to resistance from board member Peter Doust, the Dragons have clearly had a change in thinking.
Flanagan is currently working as an assistant coach at the Manly Sea Eagles and has previously been involved with the Red V as an assistant coach and head of recruitment.
