Roosters star Dom Young has been taken to hospital in a neck brace after the English international was the victim of a crusher tackle in his side’s 36-22 win over the Sea Eagles in Gosford.
Young was taken from the dressing sheds on a stretcher following the game for scans, with the club confirming it’s purely precautionary and the quickest way for him to get checked out at hospital.
The winger was caught in an awkward tackle by Manly’s Toff Sipley in the second half, with the prop forward placed on report but not sent to the sin bin.
He walked off the field but was very ginger as he made his way up the tunnel, with Young impressing in his first game for his new club after he battled a serious sinus infection in the off-season.

“He’s good, it’s just when you’re dealing with the neck, you want to be precautionary so he’s just gone to the hospital to get a scan,” Roosters coach Trent Robinson said after the game.
“He was good in there (in the sheds) talking and sitting up and all that, but they just want to keep it stable just so we know what’s exactly wrong with it.
“But he was in good spirits and he was fine.”
The Roosters fly out to Las Vegas on Wednesday and are now sweating on Young’s fitness for their first match against the Broncos on March 3.
The former Knight scored a try on Saturday afternoon and is part of one of the best backlines ever assembled, but came off earlier than expected as a result of a tackle that could see Sipley suspended and in doubt for Manly’s trip to Vegas.
“I thought it was accidental and didn’t look good,” Robinson said.
“There was a lot of force at that point.
“I don’t know what their (the referees) thought process is during the trial games…so I don’t really have an opinion on that apart from exactly how it was.
“It wasn’t intentional, but it was a lot of force on his neck.”
