Western Bulldogs midfielder Bailey Smith has suffered an ACL injury, with his 2024 season effectively over before it began.
The Dogs confirmed the 23-year-old’s injury blow on Wednesday afternoon.
Smith suffered the injury midway through Wednesday’s training session, with scans confirming the extent of the damage.

“We’re all extremely disappointed for Bailey, and empathise with him greatly,” Bulldogs football boss Chris Grant said.
“The entire Club will rally around him during this difficult time, as he begins his rehab journey.”
Smith is out of contract at the close of 2024, with much interest around his future.
Taken with the No.7 pick in the 2018 national draft, Smith burst onto the scene, with his elite running power quickly making him an integral part of the Dogs’ senior side.
He played an important role in the club’s run to the 2021 Grand Final and in 2023 played his 100th senior game.
