DOCKERS UTILITY MAKES HIS CALL

Preliminary Final

Outgoing Docker Griffin Logue has reportedly chosen North Melbourne over Richmond as his preferred destination.

Logue on Thursday informed Fremantle during hus exit meeting he had a desire to move to a rival club during the upcoming AFL exchange period. The Herald Sun reported that Freo teammates on the weekend attempted to convince Logue to stay.

The 24-year-old had attracted interest from several clubs throughout the season, with North considered one of the front-runners for his services.

Both the Herald Sun and AFL Media reported on Thursday night Logue’s preferred new home was Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos, who’ve held off the Tigers’ strong interest.

While the Tigers had been in the Logue race for some time, it always seemed tough for them to get a Logue deal done considering star Giants duo Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper have already requested moves to Punt Road — both on seven-year deals.

Contracted Docker Darcy Tucker has also been strongly linked to a move to North Melbourne.

Dockers football boss Peter Bell said the club would work to ensure with rival clubs it’s “fairly compensated” at the trade table.

“In our discussion Griff stated that ‘it was the hardest decision he had ever had to make’ and that he loves the club and his teammates,” Bell said.

“He also communicated that he was very keen to ensure a positive result for all parties through the trade process.”

POWER’S PLAY FOR PICKETT

Port Adelaide has launched a “legitimate campaign” to persuade premiership Kysaiah Pickett to join the club, according to veteran reporter Michelangelo Rucci.

Pickett, who starred for the Demons this season with 41.18 from 23 matches, is contracted to the Demons until the end of 2023.

But speaking on his SEN SA program on Thursday afternoon Rucci said the Power were making a play for Pickett.

“Melbourne has got Luke Jackson out the door and at the other end of the clubhouse they’ve got Kozzie Pickett sitting there with Port Adelaide making all sorts of lures to him to get him,” he said on SEN SA The Run Home.

“I don’t know about ‘legitimate chance’ (to get Pickett this year) but I know there’s a legitimate campaign, they’re certainly trying, they haven’t stopped trying and they’re ramping it up.”

The Power are on the lookout for small forwards to replace outgoing players Robbie Gray and Steven Motlop. They were ranked 17th for goals from small forwards this season, according to Champion Data.

Port is set to land Willie Rioli from the Eagles, while it’s also been linked to fringe Cat Francis Evans. The club is also in the race for Josh Dunkley, although Brisbane has emerged as a legitimate contender for the premiership Bulldog.

FRINGE CROW SET FOR THIRD CLUB

Adelaide utility Billy Frampton wants to join Collingwood, reports AFL Media.

The 25-year-old, who’s uncontracted beyond this year, played just six games this season for the Crows.

Overall, 21 of his 24 AFL games have been at Adelaide after starting his career at cross-town rivals Port Adelaide.

AFL Media reported on Thursday Frampton had expressed his desire to move to the Magpies, who are keen to acquire him.

The Herald Sun reported St Kilda had also shown some interest in Frampton, but he’s keen to link up with Collingwood.

Frampton played just three games from five seasons on the Power’s list before being traded to the Crows for a future fourth-round pick after the 2019 season.

He managed 10 games for the Crows in 2021, but has spent this year predominantly in the Crows’ SANFL team, averaging 21 disposals and eight marks playing as a defender.
