Former AFL player agent Ricky Nixon is being investigated by police for kneeing a police officer inside a courtroom during a hearing for a different assault charge.
The 60-year-old faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday having been charged on summons with unlawful assault and discharging a missile in a March 2022 incident.
But while leaving the courtroom he delivered a knee to the senior constable who charged him, with magistrate Malcolm Thomas saying it was up to the prosecution whether to charge Nixon with another assault.

“The officer was assaulted by a man during a court hearing about 10.30am,” a police spokeswoman said.
“The officer was not injured. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.”
In the original case Nixon is alleged to have thrown “a missile, namely (an) Australia Post package to the danger” of a man in Port Melbourne on March 12 last year, and also assaulted the man.
Nixon’s legal representative said he was acting in self-defence and will fight the charge.
While Nixon requested the hearing be held in November due to employment commitments, doing “health checks in the community”, the magistrate rejected this because most people had to change work arrangements around court.
The hearing will be on September 6.
