Murray, who has a background in rugby union, told Nine News that a move back to the 15-man code has crossed his mind.
“Yeah, I contemplate and consider it long-term, but that’s as much energy as I give it, so it’s all hypothetical’s right now,” he said.
“As far as I’m concerned, my loyalty is with my next three years at the club while I’m contracted here, and that’s where my focus and energy is.”

Jones is reportedly considering poaching a handful of NRL players with former schoolboys rugby player and current Rooster Joseph Suaali’i, his King’s School teammate Will Penisini and Manly speedster Tolu Koula on the list.
He told The Sydney Morning Herald that his second priority — behind developing players in rugby — is “to get back players who were initially lost from rugby to rugby league.”

Storm prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona has since admitted he’s “always been enticed to go back” to rugby union — and he’d “consider” it if Jones called him.
Murray, who is signed to South Sydney until the end of 2025, captained Newington College’s first XV and was even offered a deal by the Waratahs but chose to pursue rugby league instead.
