Jockey Jason Collett has an enviable book of rides at Gosford on Tuesday as he attempts to follow up on a solid run of form that included a double at Randwick last Tuesday and another win at Rosehill at the weekend.
Collett was booked for five leading contenders at the Gosford meeting, although Yankee One, which appears one of the picks of the quartet, is also an acceptor at Wednesday’s Rosehill meeting.
The Chris Waller trained pair of Thermodynamic in the East Coast Beverages Maiden Handicap (1600m) and Tannenburg in the Rock At The Races @ TEG 23 March Super Maiden Handicap (1100m) are both highly rated in TAB Fixed Odds markets, while Cosy Corner, prepared by Paul Perry, is a clear favourite in the Industree Group Maiden Plate (1100m).
Shotmaker, prepared by Nathan Doyle, is Collett’s mount in the Canadian Club Midway Benchmark 68 Handicap, while the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Yankee One is at a short quote in the Spring Loaded TEG 10 Feb F&M Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m).
“Cosy Corner has finished second at her latest two starts at Newcastle, so she looks to be in a race to suit,” said Collett.
“Shotmaker ran well the other day when he resumed at Gosford and should be thereabouts again.
“Thermodynamic was good when he resumed on the Kensington track and Tannenburg has had a couple of trials to prepare.”
Collett was on Yankee One when she debuted with an easy win at Gosford last month and the jockey has plenty of time for her.
“I really liked the way she hit the line,” said Collett, who is also down to ride her at Rosehill should she head there instead.
Apprentice Dylan Gibbons will partner an interesting first starter at Gosford in the shape of the Kris Lees trained Tigon Princess, a filly by Dundeel that takes on Cosy Corner.
Gibbons will be in action in the final event of the day on Geewiz Johnny in what is a Heat Of The Rising Star, an event which sees the return of the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Kadall, which will be ridden by Jett Stanley.
