Coincidence or savage taunt? Hidden moment in Ashes chaos that could tip Poms over the edge

Hidden among the chaos of the second Test at Lord’s was one moment that could add further fuel to an already-raging Ashes fire.

In 2019, Josh Hazlewood was among the victims of Ben Stokes’ Headingley miracle, when he spearheaded a successful chase of 359, and scored 135* in one of Test cricket’s greatest ever innings.

On Sunday at Lord’s, Stokes was threatening to do the same all over again when he reached 155, with England at 6-301 chasing 371.

Hazlewood celebrated the Stokes dismissal by standing his ground with his arms outstretched.

It might’ve been a subtle dig at Stokes, and his now-iconic celebration at Headingley four years earlier.

Until Hazlewood is asked the question, there’s no way to say for sure, although there is certainly a strong similarity between the celebrations.

The pair will have a chance to renew their rivalry on Thursday night when they meet at Headingley once more.
