Chris Paul’s time with the Suns is over.
The team notified Paul on Thursday [AEST] that they are going to waive him, according to TNT’s Chris Haynes.
The 12-time All-Star becomes one of the biggest names on the NBA free-agent market and is sure to draw plenty of interest from teams.
Haynes also reported that Paul has planned on playing “several more years” and wants to help another team contend for an NBA title.
The Suns also fired head coach Monty Williams after the season finished short of expectations, hiring Frank Vogel to replace him.
Paul averaged 13.9 points per game in 59 regular-season games with the Suns.
He also put up 8.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field.
Paul spent his first six seasons with New Orleans before spending six with the Clippers, two with the Rockets and one with the Thunder.
