The cricket world was left in awe as West Indies opener Kyle Mayers produced one of the greatest shots in recent memory in their T20I against Australia.
With the visitors sitting 1-31 with 3.2 overs gone, Mayers faced the bowling of Cam Green and delivered a picture-perfect six that went into the upper deck of Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium.
“Smacked! That is huge! First six, and it’s an upper decker!” Fox Cricket commentator Brendon Julian said.

Australian great Mark Waugh added: “That is an unbelievable shot. That is a terrific shot.
“You just don’t see that shot too often because that is so hard to play.
“To get that much power, that is a freakish shot. Unbelievable.”
Ex-Aussie vice-captain Brad Haddin responded: “This is a bit of calypso cricket.
“He’s opened the front side of his body and checked that ball over extra cover, into the second tier.”
The shot quickly went viral on social media.
“I’m sure there has been a better shot in the history of the game, but I just can’t remember it!” Aussie legend and Fox Cricket commentator Adam Gilchrist tweeted.
The West Indies, batting first, went on to post a total of 9-145 off the full 20 overs.
Mayers topscored with 39 off 36 balls.
