North Melbourne key forward Charlie Comben is facing another lengthy stint on the sidelines following a horrific incident early in the Kangaroos’ clash against Melbourne.
The 21 year old appeared to have suffered a broken leg after an awkward landing in the first quarter at the MCG.
The Kangaroos forward was in an aerial contest with Demons defender Jake Lever and landed awkwardly, immediately signalling for the North Melbourne trainers.

“Charlie Comben has hurt himself really badly down there” Luke Darcy said on Channel 7 as play continued momentarily.
Play was eventually stopped soon after as the stretcher was called to assist Comben from the field.
It’s the latest setback in a string of early career injuries for Comben that has limited the Gippsland Power product to just eight games since selected at pick 31 in the 2019 national draft.
“He’s unfortunately had a whole series of injuries that have been devastating for him right throughout his career and we’re just hoping this isn’t as bad as it looked initially” Darcy said.
‘It’s just a horror start this all around” he added.
“It was pretty immediate from Charlie Comben” Cameron Ling added on Channel 7.
“He put his hand up straight away. The doctor’s called for the stretcher immediately.
“Unfortunately you do think the absolute worst straight away for what that injury looked like when it landed.
“Horrible for young Charlie Comben and for the Kangaroos”
Comben had played every game so far under Alistair Clarkson with a return of 4.8 in front of goals for the young key forward.
Channel 7 did not show a replay of the graphic injury as Comben was taken to hospital for further assessment in the second quarter.
