‘Buy back the farm’: The Tigers’ ambitious plan to bring back Moses-Brooks in the halves

The Wests Tigers are reportedly interested in brining Eels halfback Mitchell Moses back to the club on a deal worth over $1 million a season.

Incoming Tigers coaches Tim Sheens and Benji Marshall are determined to rekindle things with not one but two who got away.

Marshall has contacted both Moses and NSW captain James Tedesco about a Leichardt homecoming as the Tigers desperately tries to lift itself off the canvas.

Preliminary Final

Moses, Tedesco and Luke Brooks all played together at the Tigers for the former duo joined title-contending clubs.

The Tigers are also chasing Storm superstar Cameron Munster on a deal reportedly worth almost $1.4 million per season.

Munster is set to ignite a bidding frenzy when he hits the open market on November 1 and will likely become the highest-paid player in the game.

NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent said the Munster option is possible but that was more chance of pigs flying that Moses returning to the Tigers.

“If he can flap his arms and fly to Parramatta, that’s about as much chance. He’s no chance,” Kent said.

“Why would Mitch Moses, who’s about to go and negotiate again, why would he take similar money to the team coming last?”

“Who says they’re going to offer him similar money?” Brent Read rebutted.

“We’ve heard the offer they were apparently going to put to Cam Munster, I would have thought Mitch would get similar money if they’re desperate to get him. So it’s a lot more money and it’s the chance to go work under Benji, Robbie, guys he knows.”

Kent pointed out that Moses knocked back an offer from the Broncos last year that was worth around $1 million per season.

“The Tigers are going to have to come significantly above (Brisbane), but Parramatta also know his worth,” Kent said.

Phil Rothfield said the Eels let Ryan Matterson, Isaiah Papali’i and Reed Mahoney all walk in order to keep their halves in Moses and Dylan Brown.

“They’ve got to shell out for both those blokes because if they both go on the market they’ll get a million each,” Read said.

“Do you seriously think Moses is a chance to go back to Tigers?” Kent asked.

“I don’t know but I’m glad they’re asking the question because they’re showing a bit of ambition. You guys bag them saying they won’t get them but what hope do they have if they sit there and don’t chase guys?” Read responded.

“They’re a slow rebuild. They’ve got to open the pathway that brought in Tedesco, Hayne, Israel Folau, and they’ve got to be patient,” Rothfield said.

“I think the only realistic one is Munster because the Tigers have privately offered him significant money.”

“Why can’t they do that for Mitch Moses? I think it’s fantastic, buy back the farm. How good would it be – Brooks and Moses in the halves,” Read said.

“Because Mitch Moses isn’t Cameron Munster,” Kent said.
