The end of season good news flurry has continued for the Melbourne Renegades, with the club securing the signature of precociously talented batter Jake Fraser-McGurk for a further four years.
Fraser-McGurk has committed to the Renegades until the end of BBL|17, with the news coming after their win in the Melbourne derby which doubled as Aaron Finch’s retirement game.
The right-hander has enjoyed a breakout summer for the Redbacks and the Renegades this season, having clubbed 257 runs including two half-centuries and two scores in the forties in what has been his most prolific Big Bash season to date.

The Victorian sits among the top five league run scorers in BBL|13 and, of that lot, boasts a better strike rate (158.64) than all of them bar one (Chris Lynn, 164.32).
Fraser-McGurk entered the BBL season as one of the in-form batters in the country after blasting the fastest ever one-day hundred from just 29 balls for the South Australian Redbacks in this year’s Marsh Cup.

His form has put him on the precipice of national selection and will be a name to watch when Australia names their squad for the upcoming T20 series against the West Indies which follows the Test matches starting later this week.
Fraser-McGurk said he’s thrilled to be staying a Renegade for the foreseeable future.
“I’m thrilled to re-sign with the Renegades, it was an easy decision for me and to be part of the club’s future is really exciting,” Fraser-McGurk said.
“I’ve made some great mates here, I love being part of this playing group. With Finchy (Aaron Finch) and Marshy (Shaun Marsh) now moving on, it’s a changing of the guard, and I want to keep contributing to what is a really talented young group moving forward.
“I feel I’ve taken real strides this year as a batter, the Renegades have given me an opportunity to express myself out in the middle and it’s paying off. Hopefully in the next couple of seasons those contributions can translate to more wins and we can have another crack at a second title.”

Fraser-McGurk’s exploits with the bat this season have also gained global recognition, securing a contract with the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 league next month when his BBL commitments conclude after the Renegades’ final game against the Sydney Thunder on Wednesday.
