Undefeated Australian heavyweight Justis Huni has been rushed to emergency at a Brisbane hospital with what his camp fears is a severe case of appendicitis.
Huni awoke on Tuesday morning suffering “serious pain” in his stomach.
The 23-year-old rising star was taken immediately to hospital where, his father told Fox Sports Australia this morning, he is now awaiting further tests.
“We’re at emergency now,” Huni snr said.
“And I’m thinking appendicitis.
“He initially had severe stomach cramps on Sunday. We thought it might have been something he ate.

“But it’s continued so now we’re at hospital.
“We’re awaiting test results.
“He’s in a fair bit of pain but we have him in the best place he can be.”
The hospitalisation comes only three days after Huni endured, and won, a tough 10-round fight against rugged New Zealand puncher Kiki Leutele.
The Queenslander was actually due to front a specialist at 5am this morning and see if he had suffered a break in his round hand during the fight.
Huni injured his hand in the fourth round and there are now fears he will have to undergo surgery.
The young fighter also went under the knife following his win over State of Origin star Paul Gallen , after he suffered ligament damage in the June 2021 bout.
