Sri Lankan cricketers Jeffrey Vandersay and Ashen Bandara were both stretchered off after an ugly collision during their ODI against India on Sunday.
India won the toss and elected to bat at Thiruvananthapuram, and were well on their way to a strong total when the incident occurred during the 42nd over.
Virat Kohli pulled one to the boundary at deep square leg and both Vandersay and Bandara dashed after it, the teammates then choosing to slide to stop the ball.

But that saw them collide heavily while sliding and it appeared whiplash did the most damage, particularly to Vandersay.
Both men were down for several minutes and each had to be stretchered off the field.
The incident was reminiscent of Jason Gillespie and Steve Waugh’s collision against Sri Lanka in the first Test in 1999, which left Waugh with a broken nose and Gillespie a broken leg.
Thankfully the immediate injuries did not appear to be quite as bad for Vandersay and Bandara though both were examined for concussion.
Play resumed seven minutes later allowing Kohli to reach a century.
He finished on a massive 166 not out leading India to a total of 5-390.
