Australian bowler Darcie Brown ruled out of West Indies ODI series with hamstring injury

Australian bowler Darcie Brown has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies due to a hamstring injury.

During Sunday’s series opener at Allan Border Field, which Australia won by eight wickets, Brown left the field in the 16th over of the West Indies’ innings with a left hamstring complaint. The 20-year-old quick bowled three overs during the first ODI, taking the crucial wicket of West Indies veteran Stefanie Taylor.

On Tuesday afternoon, Cricket Australia confirmed Brown would take no further part in the white-ball series, with Tasmania all-rounder Heather Graham replacing her in the squad.

“Brown will undergo further assessment in the coming days and an update on her availability will be provided in due course,” CA said in a statement.

Graham will join the Australian ODI squad in Melbourne on Wednesday.

It remains to be seen whether the Adelaide Strikers star will recover before the Women’s Big Bash League gets underway next week.

Australia will next face the West Indies at Junction Oval on Thursday, with the first ball scheduled for 10am AEDT.
