Welcome to the SCG

Morning one, morning all,

Wouldn’t be a Sydney Test without a reverse rain dance in the Members but the best news I can bring you from the MA Noble Stand is there’s blue sky, no precipitation and lifting cloud here at the SCG for day one of the fifth and final Border-Gavaskar Test.

Players are out in the middle, Indian skipper (for roughly the next half hour) Rohit Sharma is kicking a soccer ball around and Tasmanian tall timber Beau Webster is preparing to make his Test debut for the home side.

Australia lead the series 2-1 after the Boxing Day thriller. A win (obviously) or a draw is enough to secure their first series win over India in a decade. The Indians need victory to level up the series and retain the trophy accordingly. And the Sydney masses? Well, we just need the weather to behave. First ball at 10:30am AEDT, let’s go.

Poll: Who prevails at the SCG?

The forecast: Tim Bailey’s weather wall
