Australian Paralympic great Madison de Rozario has pipped a superstar-studded field take the top gong at the Women’s Health Women In Sport Awards 2022.
The middle and long-distance wheelchair racer was crowned the Women’s Health Athlete of the year, ahead of CrossFit athlete Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr, swimmer Emma McKeon, canoeist Jess Fox, footballer Sam Kerr and tennis player Ash Barty.
De Rozario is a four-time Paralympian and claimed two golds in Tokyo, in the 800m T53 and Marathon T54, while she also won the New York City marathon, becoming the first Aussie woman to win in either the wheelchair or open events.

Then in Birmingham she became the first Australian para-athlete to win four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, repeating in the 1500m T54 and Marathon T54.
Past winners of the top award include Ash Barty, Cate Campbell, Sam Kerr and Anna Meares (twice).
In other awards, Ash Barty’s Australian Open triumph was proclaimed the Standout Moment, footballer Mary Fowler was named the One to Watch, and basketball legend Lauren Jackson was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
