GUNNERS FIND PLAN B AFTER LOSING $159M BATTLE

Arsenal’s pursuit of former Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk ended with the 21-year-old ultimately moving to Chelsea instead of the Emirates in a monster $AUD159 million.

Although the Gunners fell short, it demonstrated to football fans that Mikel Arteta is in the market for attacking reinforcements as they continue their pursuit for a first Premier League title since 2003/04.

It appears that Arsenal have settled on a plan B in their transfer plans for a winger, as Sky Sports reports the North London outfit have agreed a fee rising up to $48m for Brighton star Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian winger has fallen out of favour with Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi over supposed attitude issues, although he has left the door open for Trossard to work his way back into the squad.

However, it now appears Brighton will cash in on Trossard, who was out of contract in the summer.

And depending on the swiftness of how quickly the deal is concluded, Trossard could make his Arsenal debut against Manchester United on Monday in what looms as a mouth-watering clash.

ANOTHER AUSSIE HEADED TO SCOTLAND?

Teenage sensation Garang Kuol became the latest Socceroos star to join the ever-growing Australian expat community in the Scottish Premiership, but he might not be the last to arrive in the January window.

According to the Daily Record, Aberdeen are hoping to sign Sunderland defender Bailey Wright on a loan deal.

Wright struggled to break into the squad under former Black Cats boss Alex Neil, but since Tony Mowbray has arrived at the Stadium of Light, the Socceroos centre back has enjoyed solid amounts of playing time.

However, Wright may be tempted to take up a temporary switch away to boost his game time with Aberdeen one of several clubs chasing the 30-year-old.

Aberdeen may have the lead in the race for Wright as the club’s head of recruitment Darren Mowbray is brothers with Tony at Sunderland.

BLUES’ BONKERS $340M SET TO CONTINUE WITH 20YO STAR

Despite splashing the cash to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk and bringing Joao Felix in on loan, Chelsea are not done with signing attacking players.

Sky Sports reports the Blues have agreed a $52 million deal with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven to sign Noni Madueke.

Madueke, who spent time in Crystal Palace and Tottenham’s youth teams before moving to PSV, has missed over half of the Eredivisie season with an ankle injury but has been back playing since October.

The 20-year-old winger scored nine goals and bagged six assists in all competitions last season.

Should a deal for Madueke be completed, it would bring Chelsea’s spending in January to a staggering $340 million and a total of $840 million since Todd Boehly took ownership of the club.
