A cheeky comment from Matthew Wade looked to have play a key role in the wicket of Faf du Plessis during the Hobart Hurricanes’ win over the Perth Scorchers on Monday night.
It was a tight eight-run victory for the Hurricanes so every wicket was crucial, especially the one of Scorchers weapon du Plessis in the fourth over.
In that instance, Paddy Dooley cleaned bowled the South African, although both live and during replays Wade could clearly be heard yelling just before du Plessis went to hit the ball.

While it was hard to make out exactly what Wade was yelling, he appeared to have said “bowled him” at one point just before the ball hit the stumps.
Du Plessis looked less than impressed afterwards too, turning towards Wade who ran towards his team to celebrate, caught up in the moment and perhaps not realising what he had done.
“I think he was disappointed,” Wade said to Channel 7 while explaining the wicket.
“I called ‘bowled’ maybe a little bit early. I don’t know how early it was, but I think that’s why he was annoyed… apologies Faf.”
