All clear: Vets happy with Sydney-based Everest runners

Racing NSW stewards and vets have given the Sydney-based runners for The Everest the all-clear after a series of inspections on Tuesday morning.

Godolphin’s representative Ingratiating will go through a similar process, which includes a trot-up and blood test for sampling purposes, as was conducted at Randwick, Rosehill and Warwick Farm on Tuesday.

The Frosted four-year-old will arrive from Melbourne on Wednesday after being runner-up to Paulele in the Schillaci Stakes last weekend.

“We got around all the tracks this morning and every horse was in good condition and the vets were happy with all of them,” Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel reported.

“We just need to do Ingratiating on Wednesday morning now and it made sense to wait for him to arrive up here.

“We will be monitoring all the runners leading up to Saturday.”

It was a busy morning at Randwick as Lost And Running, Mazu and Joyful Fortune completed their final pieces of work.

“It’s good to say it was like any other piece of work leading up to any other race,” trainer Paul Snowden said of Mazu.

“He continues to please us and he will be ready to run the best race of the campaign in The Everest, which is what we been aiming for.”

Lost And Running galloped with a mate on the course proper and The Everest second favourite ($7) worked strongly to leave trainer John O’Shea counting the days to Saturday.

“He has continued to come on since his win the other day [in the Premiere Stakes] and it is just matter of waiting until Saturday,” O’Shea said.

Meanwhile, there remains a concern about the fitness of The Kosciuszko favourite It’s Me, which is racing against time to recover from a stone bruise as she attempts to win the country slots race for the second time.

Scone trainer Brett Cavanough told stewards both front shoes had been removed from the six-year-old as she continue to receive treatment for lameness in her front off-fore foot.

It’s Me was still showing lameness in the foot on Tuesday after swimming and will be replated with therapeutic plates on Wednesday.

A Racing NSW vet is due to inspect it’s Me on Thursday to assess if she will be fit to take her place in the $2 million race.
