North Melbourne attempts to break the ‘Big Three’ stranglehold and claim a first premiership for the club this century, while Brisbane aims to make amends for past heartbreak, in the 2023 AFLW Grand Final.
The Kangaroos are in their first AFL Women’s premiership decider, becoming just the sixth club to make one, after entering the competition as a contending force yet always falling short in the finals – until now.
They could become the fifth team to win an AFLW premiership, with only the Western Bulldogs (2018) previously breaking the hegemony of Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane who share 11 of the 14 possible Grand Final appearances and five of the six flags in league history.

The Lions have often been the AFLW bridesmaids, falling painfully short in three Grand Finals – against the Crows, Bulldogs and last year the Demons – but went on the road and defeated Adelaide for their sole premiership in 2021.
They’ll again have to do it away from home, with today’s Grand Final at Ikon Park just the second to be played in Victoria, and the first since 2018.
The 2023 AFLW Grand Final gets underway at 2:30pm AEDT and you can watch the game live on Fox Footy and streaming on Kayo, with no ad-breaks during play.
