The AFL has been tipped to make changes to the score review system in time for the finals series.
The Age reports a senior official is likely to be added to the AFL Review Centre (ARC) who will communicate directly with field umpires.
This would allow the ARC to speak with the decision-makers on the ground during the actual review process while others in the ARC analyse the footage.

There is also the potential of the time for a review being called rising to around eight seconds.
In Adelaide’s loss to Sydney last Saturday night, the Swans kicked out just a few seconds after the goal umpire’s incorrect call that Ben Keays’ kick had hit the post.
That meant there was no time for a review to be called, though the goal umpire was at the time confident it was a behind anyway, which is why it didn’t occur.
It is unclear whether these changes would fix the exact scenario seen in the Crows game if repeated in September but it is a step forwards nonetheless.
And it comes after the AFL told its umpires at training on Tuesday evening to intervene if it felt the goal umpire had made a mistake.
Crows need to move on from heartbreak | 01:28
“If we see something that doesn’t stack up, and we’ve had a couple, some to do with scoring some to do with out of bounds, we’ve had a couple. If we see something, we are strongly encouraged to get it right. And that was affirmed to us last night at training,” Ray Chamberlain told SEN on Wednesday.
Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks put on a timer and allowed his frustrated players a single minute to “vent” their frustration over the heartbreaking umpiring howler that cost them victory over Sydney last week and ended their chances of making the finals.
But he told them they had to move on quickly despite the majority of the club;’ officials and supporters still coming to terms with the outcome that left Crows legend and football director Mark Ricciuto “as angry as I’ve ever been”.
The Crows have vowed to seek some form of “redress” from the AFL in the wake of a concession from league boss Gillon McLachlan that the goal umpire, who has been stood down, made a clear error by declaring the last-gasp shot from Adelaide’s Ben Keays had hit the goalpost.
Adelaide lost the match by a point, leaving them in 13th spot and with a final-round clash against West Coast to come.
Nicks on Wednesday said he wouldn’t allow his players to dwell on what might have been.
“I gave them a minute to vent and get out any anger they had, and we put a countdown timer on it and said that’ll do,” Nicks said.
“Whatever gets it off your chest – they had a chat to the guy next to them and we just talked through it … and moved on.
“It‘s not genuine discussion, it’s a statement to move on and we do that week in, week out.“If you dwell on the past, then you‘re not going to move forward.”
