The AFL has reportedly opened up applications industry-wide for its vacant General Manager of Football role, which was previously filled by new Essendon coach Brad Scott.
AFL Media reported on Tuesday clubs had been made aware the league is now accepting applications for the role.
The window for applications is set to close on November 30, with select candidates then invited to partake in a selection process.

Scott held the role for three years, with his predecessor now-Geelong CEO Steve Hocking.
The role encompasses the on-field aspects of the AFL and AFLW competitions, talent pathway systems, laws of the game, the match review process, list management and player movement systems.
Former Geelong premiership star and current Greater Western Sydney football director Jimmy Bartel has publicly expressed interest in the role.
“Yeah, I think I would be interested,” he said when asked about the role on 3AW’s Sportsday.
“You know my passion for the game and administration, that’s why I do my work for the Giants, I‘ve had some involvement with the Brisbane Lions and experience being on the board of the Players’ Association, so I would listen to that (if the offer came).
“I wouldn’t be much younger than when Brad Scott went into it, but I think having the different experiences down at Geelong, two interstate clubs, northern clubs, has clearly opened my thinking and education on the game.
“Obviously my involvement with the Players‘ Association, the AFL Tribunal and a number of other little subcommittees… you’d always listen to that phone call, wouldn’t you?”
