AFL expected to lock in Executive General Manager of Football ahead of finals series

Laura Kane is expected to be confirmed as the permanent Executive General Manger of Football ahead of the AFL finals series.

Kane and AFL CEO-elect Andrew Dillon had a photoshoot at Marvel Stadium, with Kane’s appointment set to be confirmed on Monday.

Dillon was initially the league’s acting EGM of Football before he was appointed as AFL CEO-elect.

He then began the recruitment process for finding a permanent replacement.

Kane was undertaking the role on an interim basis but has now been permanently appointed to the executive-level role.

Prior to joining AFL House, Kane worked at North Melbourne for nearly six years.

There, she began as Manager of Women’s Football and Talent Pathways Kane and eventually served a stint on the club’s executive as General Manager of Strategy and Football Operations.

Before that, Kane worked as a personal injury lawyer at Waller Legal.

She joined the AFL at the end of 2021 as the General Manager of Competition Management, before stepping into the role of Acting Executive General Manager of Football in May this year.
