AFL Draft 2023: Future picks owned by every club, 2024 indicative draft order, who you should be cheering against, analysis, latest news

Fremantle will be hoping two of last year’s top four severely slide in 2023, owning three first-round draft picks after the trade period’s activity.

Of course picks can still be traded between October 23 and November 10, as well as on draft night, with West Coast’s Pick 1 the most notable asset still up for grabs – and they’ll be hoping to land plenty in return, potentially including future picks.

But as it stands it’s the Dockers with the largest future pick haul, owning both Collingwood’s first-rounder (via the Lachie Schultz trade) and Port Adelaide’s first-rounder (via a pick swap which saw them give up this year’s No.25), plus the second and fourth-rounders of St Kilda (via the Liam Henry deal).

They are without their own future second (owned by Richmond) and fourth (owned by Carlton).

The other future first-rounder traded was the Western Bulldogs’ selection, sent to Gold Coast as part of the deal that saw Luke Beveridge’s side move up to Pick 5.

North Melbourne had two 2024 end-of-first-round picks to trade as part of its AFL assistance package, sending the first to Sydney in the Dylan Stephens deal, and the second to Gold Coast for pick 18 (with the Suns prioritising later picks for points purposes, and thus moving into next year’s draft).

Seven future second-round picks were traded with Adelaide, Gold Coast and Richmond now owning two, but Brisbane, St Kilda and Sydney without one.

Premiers Collingwood will be hoping Sam Mitchell can’t get things going at Waverley Park, owning Hawthorn’s future second and third-round picks.
