NFL Playoffs LIVE: Rams superstar QB mercilessly booed in return to Detroit

Detroit Lions fans have short memories.

That, or they want to rattle the quarterback standing between the first playoff win for the franchise in over 30 years, as former signal caller turned-L.A Ram Matthew Stafford was mercilessly booed in his return to Detroit.

First Round Playoffs

The Lions, led by their quarterback Jared Goff, who was acquired in the Stafford trade with the Rams, have scored three touchdowns in as many drives to start the game and lead 21-17 with four minutes left in the first half.

Stafford has been terrific, throwing for 189 yards and two touchdowns while Goff (14/15, 161yds, TD) has been next to perfect.

Stafford was drafted with the first overall pick by the Lions in 2009 and spent 12 years in Detroit before being traded to the Rams in 2021. This is Stafford’s first game back in Detroit since the trade.

While he didn’t lead the Lions to any playoff wins, Stafford broke the record book during his time in Detroit, setting numerous franchise passing records.

He was a rare bright light through some grim years.

However, Lions fans weren’t too appreciative as Stafford took the field against the Lions, with loud ‘boos’ raining down on their former hero.

A Lions win would see them host a Divisional Round game against the winner of Tuesday’s (AEDT) clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If the Rams win, they’ll also play the winner of the Eagles-Bucs, but will again have to travel for that.
