Race 1 – 1:45PM CENTRAL COAST MARINERS MIDWAY 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)
1. Edited By had two starts earlier in the year and improved on his debut fifth at Hawkesbury when finishing third at Muswellbrook before being spelled in April. He’s had two trials this preparation leading into this and finished fourth in each of them at Randwick. Edited By has drawn ideally in gate two here and a bold fresh showing is on the cards.
Dangers: 2. Toyger was midfield when resuming at Wyong and strips fitter for that effort. 5. Dize is on debut but has performed well in each of her three trials and warrants plenty of thought. 8. Santasia is also on debut and she has looked good winning each of her latest two trials. She has good claims.
How to play it: Edited By WIN.
Race 2 – 2:20PM NARARA PLUMBING SUPER MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
8. Rustenburg is on debut here and comes into this on the back of two barrier trials. He was midfield in the first of them at Randwick and then won the latest of them at the same track. Rustenburg has drawn well in this and Zac Lloyd takes the ride.
Dangers: 2. Outakandy was placed in his first two starts in maiden grade earlier in the year then stepped up in grade when far from disgraced at Randwick. He warrants plenty of respect against these. 3. Carpaccio has had three trials leading into this debut and is worth thought. 14. Wasted Youth is resuming from a spell and should run well against these.
How to play it: Rustenburg WIN.
Race 3 – 2:55PM BEATS N EATS @ TEG MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)
5. Subarctic is still a maiden bit tackled the Queensland Derby in the winter when finishing down the track. He since had two barrier trials in which he performed well before resuming with a close-up second in a small field at this track earlier this month. He is suited by the step up in distance here and should prove hard to beat.
Dangers: 12. Cranberries had shown talent in her career before breaking into the placings when finishing second at Hawkesbury when last produced. She’s ready to go one better. 2. Community was placed in each of his last three starts before a spell and while well beaten in two runs back from the break he improved last time out. 4. Innovates could run into the placings.
How to play it: Subarctic WIN.
Race 4 – 3:30PM ROCK AT THE RACES 23 MARCH PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)
8. Lika Sun is a lightly raced mare with six starts to her name and she has had a win and two subsequent placings. She was placed at Tuncurry before being spelled and has since had a trial at Newcastle in preparation for this return.
Dangers: 3. Lady Extreme had looked good in two trials before debuting with a strong win at this track. She’s drawn wide in this but looks to have plenty of talent and is worth plenty of thought. 1. Liangelo was a winner in maiden grade at Newcastle before a solid effort in city Saturday grade before being spelled. His latest trial in preparation for this return to racing was sound. 6. Spirit Of Storm sprinted well to score as favourite when resuming and wasn’t disgraced last time out.
How to play it: Lika Sun EACH WAY.
Race 5 – 4:10PM MAYOR’S CUP – CONDITIONAL BEMCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1900 METRES)
1. New Republic has been contesting much stronger grade races of late in the city and hasn’t been disgraced in his past four starts since contesting the Five Diamonds Prelude. He has a good overall record with five wins from 30 starts and has the advantage of barrier one in this. Apprentice Zac Wadick’s three-kilogram allowance will also assist his claims.
Dangers: 5. Caring Lass followed a Canberra win with a last start second at this track when performing well. She should figure prominently again. 2. Aldeenaary has been just behind the placings in both runs back from a spell and is ready to strike form. 6. Commander Bell won well here last time out and has had a tick over trial leading into this.
How to play it: New Republic WIN.
Race 6 – 4:50PM SPRING LOADED 10 FEB CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
2. Ostracised is resuming from a spell in this and having his first start for the Bjorn Baker stable. He performed well in a TAB Highway last preparation before scoring in good style at Dubbo before being spelled. His latest trial in preparation for this return was sound.
Dangers: 3. Power Bank was outclassed in the Starlight Stakes at Rosehill two starts back but then bounced back to winning form at Goulburn last time. A repeat of that would have him in the firing line here. 4. Gold Card has run well in both runs back from a spell and is worth place thought against these. 1. Toro Toro hasn’t been too far away of late and a bold run here wouldn’t shock.
How to play it: Ostracised EACH WAY.
Race 7 – 5:30PM FAREWELL LARA F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
3. Linguee was big odds when scoring at Wyong last time out. He hit the line well in that event and has drawn better in this event. Linguee has a good record and should be hard to beat again.
Dangers: 8. No More Lies was a winner at Kembla Grange three starts ago then finished a narrow second at Newcastle. She since was just past midfield in tougher grade at Warwick Farm last time out and can improve here. 13. Crimson Sky won well at Canberra when resuming from a long spell and can go on with the job here. 10. Wolves is resuming from a spell and while better over longer she could run into the placings while fresh.
How to play it: Linguee EACH WAY.
